Job description

WFAN, America’s first and most successful sports radio brand, is seeking a uniquely talented individual to oversee and direct WFAN’s content strategy across multiple platforms.  This position is one of the most sought after in the nation, so the bar
is extremely high for the next leader of this iconic property which continues to be the most influential sports brand in New York.

The anticipated starting salary range for New York, NY-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $200,000/yr - $300,000/yr. 

Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and location of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversight of the nationally syndicated CBS SPORTS RADIO network which is co-located with WFAN at Audacy’s New York City studios. 
  • An experienced leader with a resume of successfully coaching high-caliber talent to optimum performance is a must.
  • Proven vision of successfully creating content that can be consumed both broadcast and digitally is key.
  • Audio, video, social and live event expertise is crucial.
  • You must possess a collaborative attitude and creative thinking to support the transition of content into revenue working closely with sales leadership and clients to achieve customer goals without conceding product integrity.
  • Strong sports industry relationships are a plus.
  • Must protect the brand and our licenses, responsible for adherence and compliance to Company program standards and FCC regulations.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of eight (8) years' experience managing a large sports media property with a strong digital footprint.
  • The preferred applicant will have superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • You must be highly competent in business affairs including ability to negotiate play by play contracts and high profile talent contracts.
  • A perfect mix of both "show" and "business" is sought.
  • You must have an understanding of the ever evolving sports media landscape, both local and national.
  • A passion for sports, preferably New York sports.
  • A valid driver’s license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, and, if the position requires use of applicant’s own vehicle, proof of insurance, is required.
