Overview:

Figure Skating in Harlem (FSH) is seeking a dynamic and visionary Vice Presidentof Education and Leadership Development to join our team of changemakers. Background/Mission:

At Figure Skating in Harlem (FSH), we uniquely blend the power of Education with the grace and discipline of figure skating to cultivate young leaders. Our programs provide girls aged 6-18 with access to innovative afterschool and summer programs that promote intellectual, emotional, and physical well-being. Our mission is to empower girls to transform their lives, fostering confidence, leadership, and academic achievement. For over 27 years, our award-winning initiatives have offered girls from low-income communities access to education, health services, and wellness programs to help them realize their full potential. Our vision is to equip every student, regardless of socio-economic background, with the foundational academic, social, and Leadership skills to achieve their dreams. Our students will emerge as powerful communicators, effective leaders, advocates for healthy living, and global citizens. Headquartered in Harlem, we've expanded our impact with the launch of our first chapter in 2017, Figure Skating in Detroit.

Job Summary:

As the Vice Presidentof Education and Leadership Development, you'll lead our comprehensive educational programming, guiding our team towards innovation and excellence. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and consulting sometimes with the CEO, you'll have the opportunity to develop programs for students and alumni that not only meet FSH's objectives but also ignite a passion for learning in every participant. From after-school adventures to summer enrichment, you'll be the driving force behind our mission to empower young leaders through education from elementary school through college and early career.

Key Responsibilities:

I Can Excel (ICE) After School Program and Summer Dreams Curriculum Development:

●      Supervise and collaborate with Elementary/Middle School and High School Specialists to design and execute dynamic curriculum for students enrolled in our I.C.E. Afterschool and Summer Dreams programs.

●      Ensure curriculum content is engaging, relevant, aligns with academic standards, and reflects FSH's core values.

●      Spearhead the development of innovative programs covering a spectrum of subjects including STEAM, communications, and financial literacy to enrich the educational experience of our students.

●      Supervise and collaborate with the Alumni and Career Services Manager to develop meaningful support and tracking for in–college as well early career alums.

Staff Recruitment and Management:

●      Help hire, lead and manage a diverse team of educators, tutors, and specialists, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.

●      Provide comprehensive support and training to equip educators with the tools and guidance necessary to develop effective classes facilitating student growth and success.

●      Conduct educator evaluations to ensure high-quality instruction.

●      Cultivate a culture of academic excellence and collaboration.

Family and School Partnership Development:

●      Establish collaborative partnerships with educational institutions, scholarship programs, and related organizations to broaden access to rigorous academic opportunities and services for our students and families.

●      Serve as a liaison and resource for families seeking information and support regarding potential school changes, academic enrichment programs, and educational services.

●      Facilitate connections between students and external opportunities, including internships, workshops, and extracurricular activities, to enhance their academic experiences.

●      Implement regular Family workshops and communications to disseminate information about academic opportunities and resources available to support student learning and development.

●      Organize informational sessions and seminars on topics such as college readiness, financial literacy, and career exploration to empower families to actively engage in their children's educational journey.

Data Collection and Management:

●      Oversee the collection and evaluation of report cards and other academic metrics for all students in the program, ensuring accuracy and completeness of academic records.

●      Maintain communication with the Skating Department to ensure student accountability for academic commitments allows participation in Skating.

●      Analyze overall student academic data to inform program content and delivery.

Qualifications:

●      Bachelor's degree in education or related field; graduate degree preferred.

●      Minimum of 10 years of Educational experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.

●      Comprehensive understanding of NYC DOE, Charter, Independent, and NYS education standards and requirements.

●      Excellent communication, interpersonal, and instructional skills.

●      Enthusiasm for FSH's mission.

●      Proven track record of fostering a collaborative work environment.

●      Flexibility to accommodate occasional evening and weekend commitments.
