Job Description
The VP/GM, Beverage, will report to the President, Amcor Rigid Packaging and will be a key member of the leadership team. S/he will have full responsibility for the $1.88 Billion beverage packaging solutions business.
S/he will work with the Senior Executive team to fully understand the company's long and short-term business objectives
  • Responsibilities include "top-to-top" business relationships and value-creation with key customers and suppliers.
  • The development of business strategies that will drive transformational growth, via organic and inorganic actions.
  • The development and execution of effective operational strategies including Safety, Lean, and overall operational excellence.
  • The VP/GM will prioritize technology and innovation for custom rigid plastics solutions in the beverage business unit.
  • The VP/GM will have responsibility over key business/commercial segments within North America and 15 dedicated plant locations.

While management skills, operational excellence and sales expertise are requirements, such traits will not override qualities of effective leadership. A leader who brings excellent communication style and is willing to partner at the strategic level with his/her executive peers (across all functions) is critical. The new executive must be able to drive and manage high growth successfully; build coalitions and strong relationships with other functional and business executives, while encouraging his/her direct and indirect reports to do the same with their peers and others in the organization.
The successful candidate will also be a champion of change, as well as, a collaborative, relationship-driven leader who can foster an open and transparent environment where personal accountability and excellence are valued. What is best for the business is always part of the decision-making process and value chain.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Have full accountability for strategic, financial, operational, and people aspects of the ARP Beverage Business Unit. Manage profit and loss for the business. Develop, implement, direct and evaluate the business's fiscal function and performance.
  • Plan, analyze, and implement growth strategies and programs in the organization.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry influencers, clients, customers, suppliers, and key strategic partners.
  • Accountable for achieving sales growth and profit targets and growing market shares.
  • With a strong emphasis on operational excellence and continuous improvement, drive safe and cost-effective performance across the manufacturing network while leveraging our scale and footprint while keenly focused on optimizing utilization, quality, sustainability and service delivery.
  • Drive integration and synergies across market spaces and business lines and deliver year-over-year cost productivity improvement.
  • Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends.
  • Develop and execute organic growth dimension of business strategy. Analyze organic growth opportunities using appropriate methods (e.g., market research) and develop growth initiatives which are consistent with the organization's strategic plans.
  • Collaborate with product development and supply chain teams to define future product development needs and manufacturing requirements in terms of capacity, quality and service.
  • Manage operational assets to ensure, among other things, the correct mix of assets, asset upgrades, and capital for new product introduction.
  • Manage annual planning cycle to develop required inputs to the budgeting process.
  • Allocate resources effectively to achieve strategic, business and financial objectives.
  • In collaboration with Human Resources, assess the leadership and organizational capabilities necessary to achieve annual and longer-term objectives including talent development and succession planning, rigorous performance management, organizational renewal, and employee engagement.
  • Identify, develop, and implement effective solutions to business, industry and market challenges.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience: Has successfully run a $1 Billion+ business with full P&L; possess a strong proven P&L experience and successful track record in leading a full operational business unit in manufacturing, with multiple locations.
  • Strategic Thinker: Strategic & transformational leadership capability with experience in executing organic business development/M&A growth plans; strong business acumen; able to frame sales and operations initiatives and expertise in a business context; able to think, act and speak strategically. EDUCATION
Undergraduate degree from a respected college / university in business or related field is required.
A Master's degree in Business Administration or technical discipline, while not required, will further differentiate the ideal candidate.
