The role:
The Vice President of Business Development is a sales leadership role within Symphony Health. The VP Sales directs and oversees a team consisting of National Account Directors and Regional Account Directors, focused on delivering a substantial volume of profitable sales within the Symphony Health space. This person will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Symphony Health, utilizing their phenomenal success building world class sales teams as well as their profound understanding of how data can impact the life sciences industry.
Job Responsibilities
•Owns and is responsible for exceeding a substantial annual sales target through the development of opportunities and deal closure by their direct and indirect reports
•Establishes annual performance goals for their direct and indirect reports and assures these objectives are met and exceeded
•Working in a matrixed sales model, assures all staff are educated and trained in the Service Area/Functional strategic sales plans
•Conducts periodic performance reviews with all direct reports in accordance with ICON policies.
•Establishes annual territory plans to support achievement of sales targets and Customer Playbooks.
•Fosters key customer relationships and develops strategies to attract and retain customers in their assigned country/region.
•Conducts weekly and other ad hoc meetings with all direct reports. Provides ongoing mentoring to staff.
•Collaborates with Marketing and Inside Sales on campaigns to promote brand awareness and lead generation.
•Provides input into pricing strategies.
•Supports monthly/quarterly/annual sales forecasts and annual sales target development
•Provides subject-matter-expertise to Business Development leaders/staff and during customer meetings and bid defenses
•Seeks and applies input from ICON business owners, Business Development leadership and staff.
•Thorough understanding of the clinical development process and other ICON Service Areas/Functions.
What do you have?

  • 7+ years of extensive experience selling healthcare data research assets (medical claims, prescription claims, EMR, Biomarker, etc.), related analytic applications to commercial analytics, Real-World Evidence/HEOR/Epi/Market Access
  • A consultative selling experience who has been successful managing a team selling to the commercial and RWD/E of the top 20 pharmaceutical companies
  • A deep understanding of how and why different types of healthcare data are used to support pharmaceutical clients through the product lifecycle
  • Prior experience developing successful territory plans.
  • Ability to present at a "C" suite/executive level.
  • Advanced competency level in Miller Heiman Strategic Selling.
  • Advanced competency level in Salesforce CRM, or prior experience in another enterprise-level CRM.
  • Fluent English written and spoken.
  • Ability to work independently and in a multi-functional/matrix team environment.
