Dorado Animal Hospital and Surgical Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team in providing exceptional care to our patients. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our veterinarians and contributing to the overall well-being of our patients.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians in the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of animals, including restraint, sample collection, medication administration, and wound care
- Monitor and maintain the health and well-being of hospitalized patients, including administering treatments, monitoring vital signs, and providing comfort and care
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as radiography, laboratory testing, and ultrasound, ensuring accurate and timely results
- Assist with surgical procedures, including patient preparation, anesthesia monitoring, and post-operative care
- Communicate effectively with clients, providing education on pet health, preventive care, and treatment plans
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring adherence to hospital protocols and confidentiality
- Support the overall operations of the hospital, including maintaining a clean and organized work environment, stocking supplies, and assisting with equipment maintenance
- Participate in ongoing professional development and stay current with industry trends and best practices
Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field from an accredited institution
- Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license or eligibility to obtain licensure within six months of employment
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital or clinic setting; experience in a surgical center is a plus
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in animal restraint, venipuncture, catheter placement, medication administration, and diagnostic procedures
- Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, equipment, and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse team and empathetically interact with clients
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to maintaining a high standard of patient care, client service, and ethical conduct
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays
