Job Summary
Our successful and growing animal hospital is highly motivated to hire licensed and experienced Veterinary Nurses to join our team. We have a strong team-led mentoring culture. We are looking to add another member to our team that will fit in well with our current culture. The right personality is key! We see patients during regular daytime hours of 7:45am to 5:45pm during the weekdays. The ideal candidate is one that will be willing to work shifts within these hours. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable with all breeds of cats and dogs. A wage above $21 per hour REQUIRES LICENSING as a Veterinary Nurse or Veterinary Technician. The starting base wage will be determined by previous experience. Without a certification or license as a Veterinary Technician, but with sufficient experience in the field, you can expect your starting wage to fall within the range of $18.00 to $21 per hour depending on your experience as a Veterinary Technician. Our licensed CVT's are offered the opportunity to earn a MUCH HIGHER compensation through a commission by providing wellness only exams to our clients. Team members are eligible for wage raises on a bi-weekly basis dependent on completion of training tasks.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Taking clients and patients to the exam rooms.
- Collecting and recording information about the animals.
- Checking animals and doing routine procedures.
- Assisting the Doctor with restraint and treatment of patients.
- Administering vaccines when appropriate.
- Entering services rendered on computer.
- Recording Doctor's instructions given to the patient's owner.
- Receiving payments for services rendered.
- Receiving hospital patients.
- Setting up surgery rooms.
- Preparing animals for surgery.
- Assisting the Doctors in surgery.
- Monitoring patients after surgery.
- Cleaning up after surgery.
- Monitoring patients hospitalized for treatment.
- Running lab tests, recording results.
- Sending and receiving referred lab tests, recording results.
- Notifying Doctor and client of lab results.
- Filling and refilling prescriptions.
- Treating animals at the direction of the Doctors.
- Daily cleaning of treatment, exam, surgery and lab areas.
- Cleaning and sterilizing instruments and equipment.
- Taking, recording, and filing radiographs.
- Maintaining lab and surgical supplies.
- Taking physical inventory.
- Notify Inventory Control Officer of any expired drugs noticed.
- Other duties as assigned which assist the Doctors.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma/GED required
- 2+ years’ experience working with animals
- 1+ years’ experience working as a Veterinary Nurse/Technician
- Comfort around cats and dogs required
- High math aptitude
- Good communication skills
- Organization skills
- High aptitude with software data entry
- Customer Service skill
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
