Essential Job Duties:The Veterinary Medicine Library (VML) Student Assistant plays an essential role as the first point of contact for library access and research-related support to the College of Veterinary Medicine, located on the Centennial Biomedical campus. Students in this role will work alongside library staff to provide patrons superior customer service while assisting with routine library operations. Students will: answer queries via phone, email, and chat, check out materials, assist with troubleshooting technological issues, scan articles, shelve books, and conduct basic research to respond and refer reference questions. Students may also be responsible for opening or closing the library and other duties as needed. Some moderate lifting, up to 30lbs, may be required.

Work Schedule:Candidates should have consistent weekly availability on weekends, or at least two weekdays between 11am-6pm or from 6pm-11pm, for the Fall 2024 - Spring 2025 academic year. Students can expect to work 10-15 hours per week.
Department Required Skills:Dependable and punctual. Experience providing excellent customer service. Basic desktop computer skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills, including ability to understand needs of diverse users including faculty, staff, students, hospital clients and the general public. Flexibility and willingness to learn new information and take on new tasks. Knowledge of library services and resources is a plus but not required. Able to manage time and accomplish assigned tasks with minimum supervision.
