Veterinary Assistant

Mount Carmel Animal Hospital is looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant, Full-Time or Part-Time to join our team. Must have reliable transportation and the ability to work any shift depending on staffing needs, including 2 nights per week and 2 weekend shifts per month.

The ideal candidate will have 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Assistant in private practice or emergency care, including outpatient and inpatient services. Essential characteristics are: dependability, trustworthiness, and ability to work without close supervision; attention to detail, keen observation skills, and strong communication skills are a must. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Primary job functions include assisting in the treatment of patients in the animal hospital. Required skills:

· Assist veterinarians with outpatient appointments including obtaining patient histories and accurate vital signs and proactively setting up equipment and supplies to be used

· Accurately prepare and dispense medications, explaining proper use to clients or administering as directed by the veterinarian

· Obtain and prepare laboratory samples as requested by the veterinarian such as urine, fecal, ear cytology

· Restrain patients in a safe, efficient manner during examinations and procedures

· Educate clients home care basics including recommended preventatives, vaccine protocols, wellness care

· Communicate effectively and professionally with clients and other team members

· Maintain accurate medical records regarding patient care

· Maintain the cleanliness of the hospital

We have a beautiful state-of-the-art hospital , fully equipped with In House Lab, Digital X-ray, Ultrasound, monitoring equipment, two surgical suites, isolation ward, etc. Our skilled and compassionate team is dedicated to providing excellent customer service and superior patient care.

Our staff includes six Veterinarians who work together as a team to build a practice focused on being a true partner in care for our clients and patients. Our support staff is dedicated and knowledgeable, committed to teamwork, and focused on providing superior care and service to each and every patient.
