About the Job: The Internal MedicineVeterinary Assistant is responsible for the general nursing care and treatment of animal patients. Primary responsibilities will include assisting the IM technicians in duties to provide support, and facilitate technician effectiveness. The IM assistant will take direction from the technicians and perform duties under the supervision of the technicians. We are looking for a motivated, experienced Veterinary Assistant that is seeking a challenging position dedicated to quality patient care for our Sacramento location.
Schedule for this position will be Monday - Thursday 8am to 6pm
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Perform basic animal restraint and provide basic animal husbandry
- Assist with consults in exams rooms
- Knowledge of basic record keeping procedures
- Provide updates on IM patients to their owners as necessary
- Ensure cleanliness of the Treatment areas and equipment
- Maintain stock in the exam rooms
- Maintain inventory of IM-specific supplies
- Maintain IM equipment
- Assist in treatment when needed
- Recognize the need for help and contact the appropriate staff member
- Ensure proper stocking of medical supplies and janitorial needs
- Demonstrates an ability and awareness to keep hospital areas clean and neat, maintain a safe and clean work environment including but not limited to the cleanliness of laundry, floors and cages
- Assist with follow up phone calls as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School education or equivalent
- 1 year experience of related job experience

- Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral.
- Ability to demonstrate technical procedures as outlined in the Vista assistant protocols.
- Demonstrate reliability and follow-through with all work related tasks / projects
