Purpose & Scope: This position will have direct veterinary responsibility for multiple Pilgrim’s complexes, working with live management in all areas (pullets/breeders, hatchery, broiler grow out, and plant), satisfying regulatory health requirements, ensuring implementation and compliance with company programs, and contributing to the Pilgrim’s Veterinary Services team.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Direct contact for bird health, animal welfare, and biosecurity in multiple Pilgrim’s complexes
- Responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance related to VFDs, Rx, NPIP and USDA health/export certificates
- Training and education of live team personnel
- Contribution to Pilgrim’s vet team efforts on group projects, trials, etc.
Travel:
- Travel required to assigned complexes
- Additional travel to live meetings, continuing education conferences, etc.
Required Qualifications:
- DVM or equivalent
- Post doctorate training program in poultry medicine preferred
- ACPV diplomate preferred
- Veterinary license and federal accreditation with ability to be licensed in multiple states preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Microsoft Office suite competency
