Position Summary
- Act as the first student point of contact for the Center for Veteran & Military Services (CVMS).
- Serve as an aide to the School Certifying Official (SCO) to certify student VA benefits and track student academic progress.
- Serve as a Lead Peer Mentor in support of the VITAL (Veterans Integration to Academic Leadership) program. Conduct outreach, initial / follow-up consultation (status) sessions, training, and other activities for the VITAL program. Maintain confidential documentation.
- Assist in Center operations through tracking and maintaining office supplies, providing general student support, and helping to maintain a clean and professional office atmosphere.
Required Qualifications
- Student must have served or be currently be serving honorably in the Armed Forces
- Student must be military-connected (ROTC or dependent)
- Veteran-status preferred
- Must pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing outstanding customer/student/client support
- Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Familiar with Microsoft suite of office products
- Experience in managing confidential information

Primary Responsibilities
Responsibility
School Certifying Official Aide
Description
- Assist the School Certifying official in certifying student courses and programs,.
- Track student progress
- Aid in identifying student resource needs

Communication
Description
- Communicate and coordinate with other offices and personnel on campus to ensure proper arrangements for scheduled activities and events.
- Conduct Veterans Affairs VITAL (Veterans Integration to Academic Leadership) outreach to new and currently attending student veterans
- Conduct initial VITAL intake interviews and assist in enrollment in VA health care and Veterans Upward Bound Tutoring.

Record Keeping / Clerical Duties
Description
- Maintain accurate reporting for all VITAL actions and events
- Perform clerical duties such as receive and distribute mail, maintain files, make copies, develop schedules and calendars, maintain office inventory list, and order office supplies and materials

Description
- Respond courteously and promptly to inquiries and provide excellent front desk customer service.
- Assist guests, staff, faculty and student veterans with information and direction.
