Position SummaryLocated 45 minutes from the Nation’s Capital, nestled in a history-rich community of southern Maryland, The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) is a two-time Aspen Award-winning institution (top 15% of Community Colleges) with academic programs in over 100 disciplines. The Project Assistant (PA) will assist the Velocity Center Executive Director with administrative support to planning program activities and events associated with the Velocity Center. The PA will be responsible for such tasks as creating event registrations, sending email communications, event planning logistics and day of event onsite support as needed. PA must be comfortable with learning new technologies to support specialize programs delivered by the Velocity Center. Will be the primary contact for registrants and volunteers for programs and events and will be responsible to outreach to local organizations and individuals to participate in programs and events at the Velocity Center. This requires contact with community partners and some cold calling.
The work schedule for this position is 20 hours per week, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Flexibility is required. The salary is $20 an hour, with no benefits. Position ends on Friday, April 26, 2024.
The College of Southern Maryland conducts background checks in order to ensure the safety and well-being of the College's staff and students. Minimum Education and TrainingHigh school degree or the equivalent Minimum Qualifications and Standards Required• 1 year or equivalent experience in a professional office setting
• Excellent communication skills
• Willingness to learn new software (training will be provided)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
• Strong computer skills and knowledge of Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)
