Job description

Summary:

Responsible of all preventive maintenance, inspection and repair works on Aerostar fleet vehicles, heavy equipment and ARFF (Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting) vehicles.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees and supervises all maintenance and repair works budgeted, planned, performed and documented by mechanics and technicians to ensure equipment is kept in optimum operating conditions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, O&M manuals or computer generated reports, as well as, generates and documents metrics or administrative reports.
  • Research, designs, evaluates, installs, operates, or maintains mechanical products, equipment, systems, or processes to meet requirements.
  • Develops capital project programs for new equipment or major repairs.
  • Estimates and/or evaluates labor, material, or equipment costs for budget preparation purposes and prepares contracts, maintenance plans, budget estimates, requests for proposals, progress reports, costs tracking and/or negotiate revisions to contractual agreements with consultants, clients, suppliers, or subcontractors.
  • Develops and implements quality control programs to reduce and prevent shutdowns, downtimes as well as operating, maintenance and repair costs, including ARFF vehicles to ensure strict compliance with FAA, DOT, Manufacturer and other applicable requirements.
  • Monitors and ensures progress, quality control and compliance of work orders, work order requests and inspection reports are correctly developed and documented on a timely manner using the CMMS platform as applicable.
  • Determines maintenance, inspection and correction schedules, sequences, and assignments based on work priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel.
  • Requisition works, materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment, or replacement parts.
  • Inspects, tests, and measures completed work, using devices such as hand tools, voltmeters, scanners or gauges to verify conformance to standards or repair requirements.
  • Conducts or arranges for worker training in safety, repair, or maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
  • Diagnoses any mechanical components to anticipate and correct failures, as well as, responds to emergency breakdowns and performs coordination with personnel for off-site repairs.
  • Participates and conducts meetings and orientations and addresses any administrative functions.
  • Executes any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Automotive Technician Certificate or related field from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • Management knowledge.
  • Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT).
  • License Heavy #8 or #9. (preferable #8)
  • The position requires three (3) to five (5) years of related experience.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work under indirect supervision.
  • Basic arithmetic abilities, including multiplication and division of fractions; calculate prices, proportions, and percentages.
  • Basic knowledge in budgeting, accounting, forecasting.
  • Ability to work independently, organize workload, prioritize, multitask, foresee problems, and accomplish established work plan on a timely manner.
  • Knowledge and ability to work with tools and equipment required to perform his/her functions.
  • Knowledge in radio communication, management and use of technical and personal safety equipment, tools and medium vehicles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and oral.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to adapt easily to change.
  • Ability to maintain confidential data.
  • Ability to work with a goal-oriented operation.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
