As a Vehicle dynamics and Loads Staff Engineer on the Durability CAE team, you will support the design and development of the best vehicles in the world through application of world-class simulation tools. You will work with development engineers, and system owners across the company to develop robust and durable vehicles.
The role
    • Full Vehicle Dynamics with virtual proving ground simulations with focus on simulating Durability and Fatigue events 
    • Isolated subsystem analysis like suspension & powertrain using MBD/FEM software tools 
    • Performing load cascading to generate durability and fatigue loads from Vehicle dynamics simulations 
    • Correlation of loads and other test data (strain, displacements, accelerations etc.) between testing and simulation 
    • Flex body simulation and durability assessment of the loads, stress, strain, and other results for downstream CAE
    • Running ADAMS CAR model for durability events and provide loads to the different engineering teams
    • Work closely with the durability test team to improve ADAMS prediction capabilities and come up with test plans to validate the ADAMS model.
Qualifications
    • 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6+ years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience. Degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
    • Automotive experience with a solid understanding of Vehicle Dynamics principles
    • A strong desire to create state-of-the-art engineering products as an integral part of a very capable team
    • Proven experience in ADAMS (strong preference), CarRealTime, CarMaker, CarSim, Adams/Car or similar MBD simulation tools.
    • Experience and understanding of MATLAB/Simulink fundamentals
    • Good CAE fundamentals & desire for continual learning
    • Excellent problem-solving ability, using fundamental principles and data-driven decision making
Preferred
    • Altair products: Optistruct, MotionView/MotionSolve, HyperMesh, Hyperview, Hypergraph
    • FEA (Linear & Non-linear) and experience with co-simulation 
    • Experience with drivetrain modelling and simulation 
    • Experience with test plan development, physical testing, and validation 
    • Experience with control systems related driver control module, ABS system, active damping control system, active suspension systems etc. 
 Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Michigan- $134,300 - $223,800 /year

Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid's equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.  (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)
