Heart Beets Farm is owned and operated by Steve Murray. I started it in 2014 on one rented property and now manage 3 separate sites spanning 36 acres (9 acres actively cropped per year). We grow and sell year round, with winter production in 8 unheated high tunnels. We tend to lean towards tractor based production with the exception of our tunnels. We are trying to reduce hand labor as much as possible and farm in a way that keeps all of us healthy and able to live fulfilling lives outside the farm. We run the farm with a small crew, 4 people in 2023, who are very involved in most aspects of running the farm.
Responsibilities:
- Perform various farming tasks such as planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops
- Operate heavy equipment and machinery for tasks such as tilling, plowing, and fertilizing
- Irrigate fields and monitor water levels to ensure proper hydration for crops
- Monitor crop growth and health, identifying and addressing any issues or diseases
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment
Qualifications:
- At least one year experience working in vegetable production
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment such as tractors and trucks
- Familiarity with growing techniques and agricultural practices
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team

This position starts in April with 35 hours per week till the end of November. Hours are typically 7-2 or 8-3 depending on the weather and day of the week.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $18.50 per hour
