Title: Student AudioVisual Technician Department: Facilities Services Reports To: Facilities Services Office Manager/Network Administrator Position Summary: Student Audio-Visual Technicians are a part of the Event Services and Technology Services Offices. They provide technical support for a wide range of events, concerts, films, and conferences. Responsibilities include the set-up and operation of A/V equipment, such as data projection, audio amplification, and general theatrical lighting.
Students may be required to attend event set-up meetings and should be available for evening and weekend shifts. Customer service is integral to this position. Daily Responsibilities: Audio-visual equipment set-up for events.
To include, microphones, instrument connections, sound systems, data projection systems, theatrical lighting, and others, as needed, per event. Unsupervised event operation and general customer service. Independent time management according to event workflow.
Keep all equipment clean, organized, and safe. Assist with routine maintenance of equipment. Assist bands, performers, and event organizers with questions and requests for service.
Employ basic problem-solving/troubleshooting skills but know how to seek assistance when necessary. Other duties as assigned. Hours: Will vary depending on scheduled events in specified venues.
Requires flexibility. Up to 20 hours/week. Qualifications and Conditions of Employment: Must be enrolled as a full-time student during the period of employment.
Must file proper paperwork with Career Services and the Facilities Services Office prior to beginning work. Must be able to work with minimum direct supervision. Must be able to work well with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
Lifting of 50-75lbs preferred. Experience with sound and lighting is preferred. However, less experienced candidates may be hired, and the necessary technical skills will be trained/learned on the job.
