DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Driving Duties

• Drives Town-owned vehicles to and from destinations. Operates assigned motor vehicles safely and obeys all applicable traffic laws.
• Ensures vehicle is ready for use including, but not limited to, obtaining keys, filling with gas, and cleaning vehicle upon return.
• Organizes boarding procedures and provides aid to all passengers entering and exiting vehicle.
• Attends and participates at venues with group; remains in contact with and accompanies group and / or assists as needed with tasks or logistics such as ticketing, check-in, communication regarding departure times or other trip related tasks.
• Manages trip timeline to adhere to admission times, reservations, deadlines, tour schedule and departure times and other related steps.

Administrative Duties
• Conducts pre-post trip inspections of assigned vehicle and completes a safety checklist. Reports on any vehicle performance or maintenance issues.
• Proactively assures continual passenger safety during all phases of each trip. Ensures the safety of program participants by enforcing all rules and policies.
• Provides feedback to staff regarding trips and makes suggestions for improvement.
• Maintains program related records and reports including accurate trip data.
Other/Miscellaneous
• Maintains frequent communications with other staff within the Community Center and Division and reports any issues or concerns with inventory, facility conditions, policies and incidents to supervisory staff as needed.
• Provides exceptional guest service and represents the Town in a positive manner in all situations.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

Must be a minimum of 21 years of age with a high school diploma or GED. One year of related experience is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Must successfully pass all required employment screens including drug screening and a criminal background check.  

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS 

Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid and AED certification within one month of employment 

Valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record   

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:  

Knowledge of: To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate exceptional leadership and communication skills and must possess expert knowledge of the laws relating to the operation of motor vehicles which transport passengers. Knowledge of how to address all passengers’ needs. Knowledge of recreation related Department and Town policies and procedures and knowledge of County, State and Federal policies and procedures as related to transportation of passengers. Knowledge of loading and unloading vehicle passengers. Knowledge to recognize safety hazards and sanitation issues and to notify supervisor as needed.   

Skills in: Initiative and decision-making; verbal and written communication; supervision, leadership, and interpersonal relationships; outstanding customer service to a diverse population; administrative functions; time management, meeting deadlines, responding to internal and external requests in a timely manner; positive and professional working relationships with all Town staff and the community; conflict resolution; handling controversial issues; comprehending instruction, correspondence, and policies and procedures; problem solving; remaining composed in emergency situations and working effectively under stressful circumstances; performing CPR, First Aid, and AED to level of certification; operating vehicle under ideal conditions as well as while multiple distractions and stressful situations are occurring; driving during daylight and nighttime hours, and reading a road map; driving vehicle and working in varying weather conditions; using Town gas pumps, and complete and maintain well-organized daily records, logs and incident reports.  

Environmental Factors: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit for up to 3-8 hours per shift. Time spent walking and standing will vary per shift but can be up to 4 hours per shift. Occasionally tasks will require stooping, kneeling, pushing, and pulling of objects. The employee will rarely grasp and lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.  

Physical Factors: 

Work will be performed in a vehicle while driving. Some tasks may occasionally require outdoor work. Tasks require the frequent use of color discrimination, peripheral vision, depth perception, near and far visual acuity while driving. The employee must be able to hear people speak on the vehicle and traffic noises such as emergency sirens. Tasks will require the employee to drive in traffic, cities, and mountains. The employee will occasionally load bins for cookouts.
