Van Driver

Position Summary

You’ll be tasked with transporting patients to designated areas in the facility. You’ll work closely with nursing, registration and medical testing staff daily. Maintains a secure, clean and healthy work environment by adhering to the standards and regulations that are set forth by the hospital and local, state and federal governments. Must have a current driver’s license and clear driving record. Knowledge of traffic laws and health care locations. Ability to use approved GPS navigation technology and accountability and time-management skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Establishes and maintains communication with patients and coworkers to improve quality of service and customer satisfaction.

· Transports patients inside and outside of the facility to designated areas in a punctual and timely manner.

· Lifts patients in and out of bed, chairs, facility car and facility bus. To move them to and from treatment areas and procedure rooms.

· Offers comfort and support to patients and their families.

· Transports medical equipment, supplies, and laboratory specimens to designated treatment, diagnostic and patient care areas.

· Respects and protects patient confidence and hospital confidentiality by keeping all sensitive and patient information private.

· Performs other related duties as required or requested

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Highschool diploma or GED
• One year in experience in a healthcare setting
• Ability to life 50 pounds or more
• Current CPR or BLS certification or must be obtained within 30 days of hire

· Excellent communication skills and impeccable organization and time management skills

Physical Demands – Transport

Moderate physical activities required by handling objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently. Sitting 3 hours per shift, standing 2-4 hours per shift, bending, reaching, squatting and kneeling, crawling and climbing. May be exposed to mechanical hazards from operating company vehicles. Interacts frequently with residents and using company telephone.
