MHA is hiring immediately for a Van Driver at MHA’s GRIT Program, this program is a co-occurring substance abuse and a mental health program. This program is seeking a successful candidate who has the ability to assess transportation routes and give recommendations in regards to the efficiency of the routes. Regular assessment, inspection, and care of the vehicle is also included in the responsibilities of this position. The mission of the GRIT program is to create opportunities for all of our clients, across all areas of life. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 9am-3pm. The Van Driver reports to the Program Director.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Ability to follow a GPS and have strong familiarity with driving the Springfield communities.
- Ability to keep up to date on CPR & First Aid certification (training provided and paid for by MHA)
- Dependability is a key component of this position; therefore a history of good attendance and punctuality is necessary.
- Ability to conduct self and communicate in a professional, respectful manner.
- Valid driver’s license, sufficient automobile insurance, and acceptable driving record.
- Must be at least twenty-one years old.
Required Education and Experience
- A high school diploma or GED is required
- Experience driving a large passenger van.
- Experience following safety protocols strongly preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to speak, smell, and hear. They are regularly required to kneel, sit, pull, reach, and climb. They are also required to use their hands and fingers to grasp, hold, type, and write. The employee is occasionally required to climb stairs and lift up to forty pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include color distinction, visual inspection, visual perception, and eye/hand coordination. Loading wheelchairs and other mobility enhancing devices is required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to inclement weather, vehicles, blood-borne pathogens, and computers/monitors. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate, but can vary on outings. The majority of the time for this job is spent in the transport vehicle.
