Job description

As a UX Designer on our UX team, in Everett, WA., you will be responsible for learning and applying fundamental usability and user centered design principles to guide software user interface development for various products while working closely with user experience designers, industrial designers, software engineers, and product managers. Collaborating cross functionally, you will collect data and conduct research to understand users’ goals and explore and iterate on solutions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Learn about the domain and user workflows through in-depth research and analysis to gain a comprehensive understanding of user needs and pain points.

  • Create user task flows to tease out gaps and build understanding of how our tools or software is used.

  • Design and prototype user experiences using both low-fidelity and high-fidelity tools (This could be on an instrument or software application).

  • Create simple usable solutions for how products interact in response to human behavior.

  • Work closely with UX designers, industrial designers, product managers, and engineers to co-create innovative solutions, fostering a collaborative environment where ideas and feedback are actively shared and incorporated into the design process.

  • Support and conduct continuous user research including interviews, on-site visits, and collecting feedback.

  • Assist with user interface testing and conduct usability tests to get feedback on designs.

Assist in analyzing research data to identify key patterns and trends, and effectively communicate findings, ensuring research outcomes are easily understandable by stakeholders.

  • Must be able to relocate for the summer to Everett, WA.

  • Demonstrable portfolio of visual and interaction designs.

  • Completed coursework in Interactive Design, Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology/Psychology, Graphic Design, Communication Studies, Library Science or related fields or equivalent curriculum that teaches user centered design principles.

  • Exceptional analytical, problem solving, presentation, and communication skills.

  • Ability to think deeply about user problems and make rational design decisions, humble and eager to iterate on designs based on feedback.

  • Ability to work in fast paced environment to deliver well-designed products.

Bonus Qualification:

  • Proficient with software prototyping tool - Sketch, XD, Figma (we use Figma)

  • Previous experience working in a team environment.

  • Artistic eye for usability design.
