Atkore currently has openings for Utility/Journeyman in our New Bedford, MA facility. The position will be available on 3rd shift Monday through Friday (occasional overtime may be required including weekends) however training may take place on any shift.
This role reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor. We are looking for a positive, energetic individual with impeccable attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be required to operate different machinery across all departments to support the daily business operations and ensure quality and production standards are met in a timely, accurate and safe manner. We aim to hire team members who are highly reliable, self-driven, and adaptable to change.
Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for becoming familiar with the Job requirements of each position in different departments and will be required to follow the safety regulations and procedures of each job they perform
  • Must learn all major production machines i.e., MLT and NMLT extrusion, long track, Missiles, LTC, Geronimo and Geronimo long track. This includes filling out all necessary paperwork (Signed off on all JFA's)
  • Must have knowledge on all Q.A. specifications (access to spec sheets) to perform online Q.A. checks as needed. (On machines they are operating)
  • Must be able to perform all aspects of coiling/packaging including strip core and mini coils.
  • Self-motivation is a priority, to be able to recognize the needs of the company and act accordingly
  • Be familiar with all EHS protocols
  • Be willing to learn new tasks
  • Be highly reliable and adhere to the attendance policy
  • Be adaptable to and a range of knowledge of all areas of production within the plant
  • Maintain clean working environment and participate in clean up and maintenance activities
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives

Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to be certified and competent on Forklift and all applications the forklift is needed for
  • Must have basic mechanical skills to be able to assist maintenance if needed. (Training can be provided as needed)
  • Must be flexible and able to work overtime and to fill in where needed if other operators are absent or unavailable
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English
  • Ability to follow directions and complete work in a safe and efficient manner while producing a quality product
  • Ability to work in an environment with loud noises, smells and/or extreme temperatures at times.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Basic math skills required
  • High attention to detail
  • Must be able to push, pull, bend, sit and stand without assistance
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere and collaborate cross-functionally
  • Adapt easily to rapidly changing requests, processes, and procedures
