Utility Designer

GPD is currently seeking a Utility Designer for our Energy team in our Akron, Indianapolis, or Pittsburgh office locations.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Engineering Designer with 1-3 years of experience.
- Associates degree of Electrical Engineering Technology or Civil/Construction Engineering Technology required.
- AutoCAD experience required. Bluebeam and MS Office products experience preferred.
- Ability to create electrical single line drawings and/or civil design and layout drawings.
- Have a working knowledge of IBC, NEC codes, NFPA codes, and building construction methods.
- Ability to help keep projects on schedule and have the appropriate communication skills to accomplish this.
- Must be organized and possess strong communication skills and professional writing skills.
- Ability to lead weekly calls with utility companies and clients.
- Experience in supporting architects and engineers in design and organized documentation for project work.
- Ability to work within a team environment with individuals from various offices and disciplines, throughout design.
- Some travel may be required on occasions.
- Valid Driver’s License is required.
Responsibilities will include:
- Permitting research, submittals, and proactive follow-up.
- Technical problem solving such as, researching design solutions, products, and alternatives.
- Engineering design and documentation with an emphasis in Energy and EV Charging.
- Preparation of construction documents based upon field surveys, available resources, and client requirements.
- Some travel and field work to collect data and develop solutions.
- Project planning.
- Collaboration with all disciplines and stakeholders.
- Supporting projects with technical design and documentation using AutoCAD.
