*We are currently hiring for multiple positions within our Lexington, KY territory. To be considered for this position, the successful candidate must live within 20 miles OR 25 minutes 100 E. Main Street Lexington, KY 40507*
Rate Range: $26.11 - $26.32 USD Hourly
Job Summary
To receive and perform customer/company work requests related to the installation, repair and maintenance of natural gas pipeline facilities.
- Performs job functions in a safe manner in accordance with company policies and procedures and other natural gas related codes and standards.
- Timely and accurate completion of assigned job functions and paperwork.
- Excellent customer service.
- Successful development of critical job knowledge skills
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Uses a pick, shovel or jack-hammer to break up dirt, pavement, or rock to uncover pipeline
- Installs clamps, sleeves, couplings and other fittings.
- Measures, threads, and cuts pipe to proper length.
- May be required to handle hazardous waste.
- Exposed to all weather conditions.
- Uses computer terminal to access and input data, porta processor and other technology to complete job functions of this position.
- Required to wear all personal protective equipment in accordance with policy and procedures.
- Completes other duties as assigned and accepts temporary assignments in operations.
- Locates, performs curb valve/box inspections and maintenance.
- Locates and performs critical valve inspections and maintenance.
- Installs service lines from mains to customer’s meter.
- Replaces existing service lines and mains.
- Installs main extensions to new customers.
- Tests service lines for leaks.
- Tests existing service lines and mains for leaks and repairs leaks where found.
- Completes service line orders; maintains record of materials and supplies used to perform job activities and stocks truck.
- Changes charts.
- Assists in setting and changing domestic gas meters.
- Maintains regulator buildings and stations by painting and repairing.
Required Qualifications for Position
- Diploma from an accredited high school or a GED
