Responsibilities

  • Ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of utility systems, overseeing repairs, troubleshooting, and implementing preventive maintenance programs for equipment and infrastructure.
  • Stay abreast of and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing utility operations, collaborating with regulatory agencies for inspections and reporting.
  • Develop and manage budgets for utility operations, monitoring expenditures, and implementing cost-saving measures while preparing and justifying budget requests for equipment upgrades and replacements.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise utility staff, conducting performance evaluations and fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with engineers and planners to develop long-term infrastructure plans, assess the need for system expansions or upgrades, and oversee the design and implementation of new utility projects.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans, coordinate response efforts during utility-related emergencies, and conduct drills and training exercises for utility staff.
  • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints, implement programs to enhance customer satisfaction, and communicate planned maintenance or service interruptions to customers.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve utility operations, monitor advancements in utility management systems, and recommend updates while ensuring the integration of smart technologies for enhanced monitoring and control.
  • Analyze utility performance data and generate regular reports, use data to identify trends, assess system efficiency, make informed decisions, and prepare reports for management, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Engage with the local community to address concerns and build positive relationships, participate in community outreach programs and public awareness campaigns, and collaborate with local government and stakeholders on utility-related matters.
  • Explore and implement initiatives to promote energy efficiency and sustainability, integrate renewable energy sources into utility operations where feasible, and stay informed about sustainable practices and technologies in the utility industry.
  • Identify and assess potential risks to utility operations, develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with safety protocols to minimize operational risks.

Job requirements

  • Expertise in planning and implementing stormwater systems
  • Proven track record overseeing sewer operations and maintenance
  • Extensive knowledge of water main installation and maintenance
  • Ability to ensure compliance with storm, sewer, and water regulations
  • Can develop and implement emergency plans for utilities
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record -Required
  • Must be able to pass a background check -Required
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
