Details: Posted on Friday, May 12, 2023 and closes on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at 5:00pm Apply Now Job Description Operates various equipment, including dump truck, street saw, shovels, jack hammer, pipe saw, and related attachments in effecting the general maintenance and repair of water and sewer lines. Hauls, dumps, and shovels crushed stone, sand, dirt, and asphalt from trucks using appropriate equipment.

Digs ditches, repairs and/or replaces pipes, refills ditches, patches roads, sidewalks, and/or soil, and cleans work site as needed. Regularly checks department vehicles and equipment to ensure proper fluid levels and mechanical functioning.Ensures appropriate equipment and machinery is available at the work site.Performs duties of Water Lineman as needed. Performs related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge - Graduation from an accredited high school; or possession of equivalent (GED) issued by an accredited high school; or combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position. Working knowledge of and skill in the operation of department vehicles and related equipment. One year of experience working with water, sewer, and/or storm water, preferred.

Basic knowledge of the mechanics of light and heavy equipment and ability to perform minor maintenance and repairs. Working knowledge of safety precautions for working in or around department vehicles and equipment, including ability to operate equipment in confined areas. Abilities - Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle.

Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL-B with air brakes) within probationary period. Current CDL-B or CDL-A holders preferred. Ability to work overtime as instructed.

Additional Information Hours: 7:00am - 3:00pm, Monday - Friday Salary: Starting base pay is $21.21. After a 120 day probation, pay will increase to a minimum of $21.66 and a maximum of $23.66 and is assigned based on the new hire's skills, knowledge, abilities, and experience. Benefits: Employees receive 13 paid holidays per year and may earn up to 4 weeks (160 hours) of Paid Time Off in their first year of employment and 5 weeks (200 hours) in their second calendar year of employment.

The City contributes 14.2% of an employee's salary to their retirement fund through the Indiana Public Retirement System (INPRS). Employees may contribute pre-taxed dollars to a 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan account to supplement their retirement earnings. As a pilot program, the City will contribute double the amount of the employee's 457 (b) contribution to a 401(a) account up to $30 per pay.

After 1 year of employment, six weeks of paid parental leave are available to eligible employees. This is a pilot program for 2023. Health, vision, and dental insurance premiums are subsidized by the City and are available on day one of employment.

Employees may elect the High Deductible Insurance plan with the City providing an HSA contribution and if the employee has received the most recent COVID Bivalent Booster the employee only plan is at no cost to the employee. The City offers life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment, and long term disability insurance at no cost to employees. Employees may elect voluntary term life and short-term disability insurance.

Employees may receive over $2,400 per year in HSA contributions and wellness reimbursements, insurance discounts, and incentives. City Employees ride for free on Bloomington Transit.
