Job description

The User Experience Designer collaborates with the UX team to cultivate positive and exciting experiences on verabradley.com. This includes designing customer journeys, wireframes, user interaction, conducting user research, understanding of site features, and general advocacy of the Vera Bradley users.
Position is onsite in Fort Wayne, Indiana

  • Produce experience solutions in collaboration with Writers, Developers, and Creative Leads. Collaborate cross-functionally and leverage a flexible toolkit for unique project needs that may include sketches, detailed mockups, and functional prototypes.
  • Participate in discovery and requirements-gathering sessions to understand business needs and user motivations.
  • Apply data-driven insight provided by data analytics, SEO recommendations, product management, and User Experience leadership to create successful User Experience designs that achieve results.
  • Brainstorm and workshop ideas for translating business requirements into brilliant interfaces and memorable brand experiences, executing visual design that supports brand style and tone.
  • Apply expert knowledge of modern web design best practices and the latest available tools and resources.
  • Put mobile-first thinking into design practice.
  • Collaborate with development team leads to ensure designs are structured for feasibility and achieve the stated goal.
  • Responsible for weighing any new feature or content for alignment with the design system as well as maintaining the site style guide.
  • Collaborate with the Digital and Creative team on promotions and campaigns that meet strategic initiatives and business and branding objectives for verabradley.com.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Web/Experience Design, Marketing, or Graphic Design with an emphasis on web design, interactive media or equivalent.
  • 1+ years experience in User Experience design, HTML and CSS programming experience, preferably from a retail background
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment (e.g. Scrum or Kanban) a plus

  • Understands key business drivers and uses this knowledge in own work
  • High level of attention to detail with strong follow-through skills
  • Demonstrates ability to solve a range of problems with the ability to analyze solutions
  • Strong and flexible capabilities in visual interface, experience, and web design
  • Ability to write HTML and CSS with a knowledge of Javascript and Content management systems a plus
  • Technically proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including XD, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
  • Familiarity with capabilities and limitations of current web technologies
  • The ability to see from the point of view of the user
  • Knowledge of Scrum and Agile Principles
