Job description

SUMMARY:
The U.S. Distribution, Project & Network Operations Lead has direct responsibility for the planning, organization, direction, performance and control of all network projects and operational infrastructure within the Zoetis U.S. Distribution Center and Lead Service Providers (LSP) network, including Capitalization Projects (CAPEX), Special Projects and performance with any third party LSP.
The selected candidate will be the acting lead and subject matter expert representing US Performance & Customer Center of Excellence in US network capitalization projects, infrastructure projects, and programs planning. The incumbent will partner with and may have responsibility for reporting assets in place. This role will also manage the capital expenditure for the Network including identification, consolidation, and prioritization of CAPEX needs; report, update and maintain the SAP CAPEX data base; and manage the CAPEX governance meeting weekly or by-weekly with project owners to ensure timelines and budget are met.
This position reports to the U.S. Director, Performance and Customer Solutions and Supports the U.S. VP, Performance & Customer Center of Excellence.
The primary location for this role is Zoetis Parsippany, NJ headquarters. Proximity to other Zoetis Logistics centers or major manufacturing sites could be considered.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Projects:
  • Delivery of all assigned projects and programs to agreed budget, benefit, quality, timelines, and scope parameters.
  • Day to day project plan tracking, (including asset capitalization projects)
  • Weekly reporting (in line with Zoetis requirements)
  • Weekly Project Team Meetings (internal & external parties)
  • Bi-Weekly Sponsor / Steering Meetings - as required. This role will involve working alongside VPs within our organization who will fill the Sponsor role on these projects.
  • Ad-hoc escalations and communications
  • Management and reporting on interdependencies with sites supporting the end-to-end manufacturing process.
  • Management of dispersed project teams in a matrix structure (consisting of project managers, engineers, IT teams, regulatory teams, Quality business professionals and technical teams).
  • Ensure that the project adheres to local Zoetis and local regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to agreed project management office (PMO) and project governance structures and methodologies for Zoetis GMS.

CAPEX:
  • Identify, consolidate, and prioritize Capital Expenditure projects.
  • Update the SAP CAPEX data base.
  • Coordinate with DC Site leads CAPEX project planning, budget, timelines, execution, implementation.
  • Establish regular set of meetings with Internal and External Stakeholders to review project progress and spend adherence to the budget and phasing during the year. Stakeholders include US Performance & Customer Center of Excellence LT, Global GMS CAPEX group and GMS LT.
  • Forecast CAPEX spend as well as adherence the budget.

Digitalization:
  • Partner with Global Analytics group on Digitalization projects.
  • Support and/or coordinate Digitalization projects on the DC's and Transportation.
  • Function as the main liaison between Stakeholders on digitalization projects to be implemented on the US Performance & Customer Center of Excellence

Network strategy, DC Footprint and Analysis and Transportation:
  • Monitor and evaluate capacity network utilization for storage and order fulfilment.
  • Review periodically the network footprint in the light of go to market evolution (direct vs distribution) and volume projection.
  • Support Distribution Center expansion projects.
  • Partner with Performance & Customer Center of Excellence, GMS, Finance, and customer service on the development of analysis, design, and business cases for solutions focused on achieving better logistic operating costs or customer service in support of business requirements.
  • Participation in activities for increasing operational efficiencies, change in business strategies or in support of operational imperatives.
  • Analysis of factors, trends, and impacts of internal and external environmental drivers of SCL Network Operations, with development of operational responses to the drivers.
  • Participate in Business Development teams to analyze requirements and ensure alignment with Market Logistics capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive projects from concept through successful post implementation (GMS, Manufacturing, Finance, Transportation, Customer Service etc.).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics or Operations Management with 7-10 years' experience in Warehousing, Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
  • Minimum of 5+ years' senior experience managing manufacturing Projects.
  • PMP or related project management qualification is essential.
  • Proven Demonstrated ability to manage dispersed teams (consisting of project managers, engineers and business professionals and technical teams).
  • Proven history of successful leadership of a logistics operation and facility management experience.
  • Strong SAP knowledge

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Proven record of successful leadership of a logistics operation and facility management experience.
  • Experience with Warehouse or Materials Management systems, as well as knowledge of inventory and planning systems.
  • Previous experience with the management of Transportation processes is desirable.
  • Ability to successfully meet Board of Pharmacy background requirements.
  • Limited weekend or off-hours work may be required from time-to-time.
  • Proven record in project management and system implementation
  • Minimum of 5 years project management experience with a proven history in the delivery of business change in a logistics and manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing multi-disciplinary, cross functional teams (technical, engineering and business professionals and contractors) to deliver projects safely, on time and within budget.
  • Must have experience as a Senior Project Manager through the full lifecycle of the project (from project initiation to implementation) with a detailed knowledge of GMP requirements.
  • Proven record in successful Program delivery on time and to budget within a diverse global organization.
  • Excellent Stakeholder Management and communication skills to build impact and influence.
  • Experience of management of major suppliers / third parties.
  • Ability to be a hands-on project manager (development of project plans, RAID and reports) whilst at the same time take a strategic view across a program and motivate, negotiate with and influence individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience of delivery of life science projects to comply with GMP is a distinct advantage.
  • Experience of motivating and leading project teams and multiple concurrent projects (in a matrix organization).
  • Experience of working on with a number of cross departmental projects within a fast-moving, changeable environment with innovative technology/products and working practices.
  • Demonstrable change management skills including behavioral and cultural awareness and the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholder groups, in an appropriate manner.
  • Experience of working successfully under pressure, managing complex projects, managing ambiguity, and creating clarity.
  • Ability to work on own initiative when setting up and delivering projects.
  • Teamwork, collaboration, and the ability to build effective partnerships with both business and technical stakeholders at all levels of an organization is an essential requirement of this role.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Most work completed in office and warehouse environments, requiring sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Ability to travel about 25% of time is required.
