Employee Relations Manager

Director, HR Business Partner Services
Overview
The Employee Relations Manager is responsible for providing strategic HR support to retail and restaurant business leaders at the Store, District and Regional level. This position will act as the primary point of contact for HR investigations. The Senior HR Business Partner will also partner with District and Regional leaders to develop and implement HR initiatives that align with the company's goals and objectives.
Responsibilities

  • Manage and respond to workplace concerns related to discrimination and harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, and violations of company policy through review, fact-finding, investigation, documentation, policy interpretation and articulation, performance related coaching, and recommendations for corrective action as warranted.
  • Communicate regularly regarding pending investigations and provide timely investigation reports with detailed supporting documentation for all completed investigations.
  • Guide the interactive process to ensure ADA compliance and determine reasonable accommodations. When necessary, partner with Benefits team to proactively manage extended leaves of absence and return to work accommodation requests, providing guidance to all involved.
  • Support employees with workplace questions and concerns, ensure awareness of URBN policies and available resources.
  • Coach managers on how to provide constructive as well as positive feedback to employees to maximize performance in alignment with business goals and ensure compliance with URBN policy. Consult with leaders to address performance feedback through expectation setting, performance improvement plans, and/or progressive discipline.
  • Work with leadership to resolve employment issues through objective coaching, trusted feedback, and support.
  • Act as a strategic HR advisor to senior business leaders for the M&V brand, providing guidance and support on talent management, organizational design, change management, and employee engagement
  • Ensure compliance with URBN policy, employment standards, privacy, occupational health and safety and other applicable legislation and regulatory guidelines. Respond to policy questions as needed.
  • Manage the onboarding, training, and development of Employee Relations Specialist
  • Participate in HR-related trainings, leading trainings as necessary.
  • Lead special projects, as needed.

Education and Qualifications
  • Prior professional experience in HR Business Partner roles

Job Skills
  • Demonstrated experience leading workplace investigations related to discrimination and harassment, retaliation, wage and hour complaints
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of collaborating with leaders, peers, cross-functional partners
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong emotional intelligence, and ability to build trust, rapport, and influence with leaders, and employees at all levels of the company.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, including ADA and FMLA.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize daily tasks independently.
  • Strong time management and prioritizing ability to balance multiple urgent assignments simultaneously
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills especially in complex, sensitive, and nuanced situations
  • Self-starter, autonomous and ability to own work processes from start to finish
