Looking for an Urban/Transportation Planner I for Nashville
The Urban/Transportation Planner I is responsible for assisting the Senior Planning staff with planning research, preparing documents, and coordinating special meetings, workshops, and aiding in the development of relationships with industry partners in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present reports and documents on development proposals, subdivisions, and zoning changes to government bodies.
- Collect statistical data and prepare reports, graphics, and maps on planning related topics..
- Assist in evaluation re-zonings, ordinance amendments, site plans, special use permits, variances and other proposals.
- Coordinating community review of public and private development projects.
- Creating and giving presentations at public meetings.
- Providing information to the public regarding development regulations.
- Coordinate with engineers to evaluate designs as it elates to environmental and community impacts.
- Assist in resolving citizen and customer issues.
- Conducting field evaluations and assessments under direct supervision.
An ideal candidate will possess the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Masters degree in city / urban Planning, landscape architecture, transportation planning, geography, environmental science, or related discipline OR
- Bachelor’s degree with 2 or more years of related experience
- Understanding of transportation and environmental planning principles
- Proficient with graphic design – to support technical documents (maps)
- Technical writing experience
