Urban Designer

ZGF is looking for a Junior to Mid-Level Urban Designer to join our team at our Portland office. At ZGF, we thrive on multi-disciplinary engagement at the intersection of architecture and urban design. Our ideal candidate will have 2-6 years of experience in Urban Design. As an integral part of our collaborative and outgoing team environment, you will provide graphics, design, and overall team support for urban design and master planning projects that encompass mixed-use developments, multi-family and high-rise residential, major institutional, and cutting-edge technology clients, to name a few.

As an Urban Designer, you will….

• Urban design and precedent research
• Site analysis and existing conditions documentation
• Detailing and Layout of material systems
• Analysis and concept diagrams
• Site plans and area mapping
• Illustrative plans, sections, and perspective renderings, both hand and digital

Qualifications:

• 2-6 years of relevant experience
• A degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture and/or Urban Design
• You are a creative problem solver with well-rounded Urban Design skills and the ability to work independently, learn fast, and balance multiple projects, often with short schedules and quick deadlines.
• You are interested in honing your technical ability with materials and constructability.
• Proficiency in Adobe Suite, Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, Sketchup, and 3D Max.
• Ability to illustrate urban planning and design concepts graphically in a clear and effective manner.
• Organizational and critical thinking skills to create materials for engaging and creative presentations through storytelling.
