Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs tooling setup and production operation of forge upsetter, as well as related equipment such as furnace, cranes, tongs, descaler, etc.
- Maintains a safe and clean workspace including areas on and around assigned Upsetter machine, as well as surrounding the work environment within the forge department
- Confirms raw material matches manufacturing order prior to forging
- Updates setup documentation as changes are made
- Immediately communicates relevant updates pertaining to production and upsetter performance including changes to raw material, safety concerns, mechanical errors, or tonnage
- Operates machinery in a safe manner and follows all safety rules
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience setting up and operating a forging upsetter
- Experience using micrometers, gages and other measuring tools
- Experience operating overhead cranes and forklifts
- Experience and skill in using shop math
Physical Demands:
- Stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
- Climbing ladders and stairs to reach work at potential heights of 15ft or more
- Tolerate high temperatures impacted by weather and machinery
- Acclimate to high noise and vibration levels in work spaces
- Must be able to regularly lift and or move up to 40 lbs.
