Job Description
We are seeking an Installation Technician to become a part of our team! You will assist with the
installation of custom-made canvas enclosures, mooring covers, party tops, Bimini tops, and sport
tops in the marine industry.
As an Installation Technician, you will play a crucial role in installing, repairing, and maintaining
various types of canvas enclosures, ensuring they function efficiently and safely. Your attention
to detail, problem-solving abilities, strong mechanical aptitude, and commitment to quality
workmanship will be essential in meeting our customers needs. Punctuality and a strong work
ethic are also essential in a good Installation Technician to ensure that all new installs and service
calls are handled with professionalism and efficiency.
Education Required Skills:
- High School Diploma / GED
- 2+ years of General work experience
- Construction experience +
- Marine Installation +
Responsibilities:
- Learn marine canvas trade.Assist with the installation of canvas enclosures, canvas tops, and mooring covers in and around the state of GeorgiaMust be able to use various types of equipment and hand tools.
- Job may require performing work in unusual and sometimes difficult locations such as marinas, houseboats, cruisers, etc.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Furnish tools, materials and supplies to other workers during installation.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintaining tools and equipment to ensure optimal operating conditions.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Track all equipment and supplies taken from the shop.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Physical stamina when standing or kneeling for extended periods of time.
- Good customer service skills when working directly with residential and business customers.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 or over and pass a background check.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience in the marine industry or other related fields is helpful but not required.
- Ability to work well in small groups and follow instructions.
- Enjoy working with your hands and being creative.
- Ability to swim.
- Ability to work in marinas and around water.
- Physical ability to lift and bend, climb ladders up to 20’ in height, work on knees for extended periods of time, and be proficient in operating power tools.
- Ability to handle physical workload and lift 50 to 60 pounds overhead.
- Problem-solving skills to handle canvas repairs and equipment issues during service calls.
- Familiarity with drills, table saws, miter box saws, tape measures, pop rivet guns , and other hand tools as necessary.
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance while working on very expensive boats.
- Aluminum welding is a plus, not necessary.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Good communication skills when coordinating with team members and customers.
- Additional ongoing training provided.
