Unit Coordinator (Charge Nurse) --Neonatal ICU - Nights
Nights - Full Time

Position Summary / Career Interest:
Provides Charge Nurse responsibilities, including assignments, management of throughput, staffing to matrix, and responding to patient and staff needs. Manages a patient care assignment as indicated by patient care needs. Assists with hiring, education and performance evaluation of the staff. Works with the Nurse Manager and Human Resources in performance management counseling and discipline of staff. Instructs staff and ensures compliance with standards through daily on-going monitoring and performance management. Serves as a role model and mentor for excellence in clinical practice and patient and employee satisfaction. Takes personal responsibility for achieving productivity targets and budget compliance. Has primary involvement and responsibility for unit performance improvement activities and outcomes.
Neonatal Intensive Care
This Level III unit can accommodate 25 infants. Newborns who require comprehensive surgical or medical care are admitted to the NICU from our Labor & Delivery department as well as outside facilities. Using a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach, the nursing staff provides total patient care to the tiniest, most fragile patients. Each infant's emotional and developmental needs are addressed through proper amount and types of stimulation. Staff also helps parents cope and care for their infants through in-depth education and planning.
Responsibilities:

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing
Registered Nurse in State of Kansas
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or obtained within 14 days of hire.
As a condition of your employment and continued employment with the health system, you are required to secure a Nurse Compact License (NCL) within 60 days of your date of hire. This will enable you to perform your job duties not only in Kansas, but other compact states. You will be responsible for any expenses you incur in securing this license, and must provide your manager with evidence of this license before the sixty-day period expires. If you fail to secure the NCL as required, you will be immediately removed from the work schedule and placed on an unpaid administrative leave, until we can understand the reasons for your non-compliance. Further failure to comply with the licensing requirement will result in your end of employment with the health system.
Preferred:
2 years of clinical experience
