SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or delegate, assists in planning, organizing and evaluating the activities occurring at the nursing station by performing clerical and receptionist duties and maintaining the physical environment of the area. Assists with other duties as needed.

SCHEDULE: 12hr Variable Shifts
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School graduate required
- One year of clerical work or college education in the business field following High School preferred
- Required certification from the AHA Cardiac Arrhythmia Recognition course, and/or the completion of the AACN Cardiac Arrhythmia Course.
- On-the-job training for Unit Clerk responsibilities
- Medical terminology preferred
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitoring all cardiac rhythms for each patient in CCU as well all medical/surgical patients.
- Alerting the charge nurse as well as medical/surgical floor staff of potential cardiac irregularities in a timely manner.
- Maintain a calming manner in highly stressful situations.
- Performs various clerical duties related to the updating and organizing of information on the nursing units. Establishes & maintains the patient record on the unit. Answers the telephone in a professional manner and directs calls to appropriate individuals and/or takes messages. Stock units with office supplies; prepares requisitions to maintain established inventories. Faxes and photocopies information as needed. Obtains supplies as requested by the nursing staff.
- Records information, such as physicians' orders and instructions, dietary requirements, and medication information, on patient charts and medical records, as needed.
- Adheres to HIPAA guidelines by accessing PHI in accordance with departmental assignment
- Welcomes visitors, answers inquiries, gives directions and refers inquiries to nursing and physician staff as needed.
- Occasionally assisting staff with lifting of patients
- Provides support and necessary information to nurses, providers, offices, etc.
- Arranges discharges/ transfers by notifying patient transport services.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations and adhering to Infection Prevention Policies

PAY RANGE:
$16.97 - $25.70
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
