We are looking for an Underwriting Manager to provide leadership in the development, marketing and underwriting of commercial lines business throughout the AllComp program.
In addition, the Underwriting Manager will contribute to company profit and growth objectives by making decisions regarding the acceptability of risks written through establishing controls and guidelines, frequent detailed analysis of the book of business for adjustments and support in maintaining profitable agency relationships. Involvement with daily supervision and training of Underwriters and Underwriting Assistants in partnership with the Program Director.
**This is a hybrid position, with 3 days onsite at the Conshohocken, PA Home office**
- Train and manage underwriters to evaluate and select risks that will result in profitable growth for their portfolio.
- Evaluate, maintain and improve the quality of the underwriting staff and process.
- Maintain functionality within the team in an efficient manner.
- Evaluate and recommend corrective and/or appropriate actions when required.
- Oversight of daily metrics established by the Director.
- Direct contact with carrier partners across program.
- Develop relationships with key agents.
- Work with Program Director on the strategic and successful development of the programs; provide weekly reports, metrics, etc.
- 7+ years of management experience within the insurance industry, specifically within Workers Compensation.
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree a plus.
- Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, analytic and problem-solving skills with proven ability to execute decisions.
- Demonstrate strategic and marketing capabilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and drive results in a high-volume, fast-paced team-environment.
- Detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to self-direct, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
- Highly motivated and results oriented.
- Strong knowledge of computer systems (rating system, Pipeline, AFW, ImageRight, etc.).
- P&C license required, or to be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
- Up to 25% travel.
