Job Description

Candidate will be a problem solver, excited to work in an ever evolving environment. The Diverse Underwriting Assistant role requires a strong working knowledge regarding workflows and systems, for both admitted and non-admitted, rules, rates and forms. This role will work closely with the Sharing Economy Underwriters providing unique solutions for legacy system limitations. The successful candidate will seek to acquire practical experience through direct exposure to the business, seeking an opportunity to develop into the next generation of insurance business professionals.

 

 

What you will do for C&F:

 

  • Review, analyze and prepare rating on various insurance products.
  • Classify autos, assign General Liability class codes, and complete worksheets with final approval by the underwriter.
  • Provide expertise and support for offshore counterparts performing data entry for pre-quote in underwriting workbooks and systems, such as auto classification, GL classification, schedule of underlying, and losses.
  • Understand form selection and prepare policies which are clear and compliant for delivery to our customers.
  • Ensure policy transactions are rated, booked, invoiced and issued accurately and meet corporate service standards.
  • Communicate, as needed, with producers to obtain information required to complete transactions.
  • Refer transactions to underwriters that require approval, completing transactions independently when within delegated authority limits.
  • Report policy data to third party reporting agencies such as the Department of Motor Vehicles.  Resolve criticisms from reporting agencies to meet internal and external guidelines.
  • Communicate, as needed, with Accounting, Audit, Claims, Loss Control and Reinsurance to answer policy questions and resolve issues.
  • Work with system support to test releases when the verification of successful programming involves a review of the production environment.
  • Electronically print documents into the imaging system, page mark and label the documents appropriately adhering to the corporate protocols.

 

What you will bring to C&F:

 

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Comprehensive insurance policy processing experience with a strong understanding of workflow for both admitted and non-admitted lines a plus
  • Solid knowledge of commercial lines and/or non-admitted rules and filings, including how to research and locate information in various systems, such as Lotus Notes, NCCI, and ISO Net
  • Ability to organize several tasks at once and quickly move from one to the next throughout the day
  • Follow established procedures with an emphasis on quality and customer service
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Policy Decisions, WINS and Duck Creek
  • Detail oriented with the ability to make independent decisions
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with Colleagues, clientele and /or other internal or external customers
  • Highly motivated with a positive outgoing personality, possess an entrepreneurial spirit, have a service mentality, and be comfortable in a fast paced environment.

Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $39,200.00 to a maximum of $65,300.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee's contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
