Form of workThe primary purpose of the Undergraduate Student, Strategic Communications, position is to learn about healthcare strategic communications and support MD Anderson's digital communications through the development of content for its external website, social media accounts, and its intranet. This position will be an overview of opportunities for communications professionals in healthcare.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The Undergraduate Student will learn to write and develop digital content for a large healthcare organization. Under the direction and supervision of Strategic Communications professionals, the Undergraduate Student develops blog post(s) for MD Anderson's external-facing website, social media posts and internal news article(s) for the intranet. The Undergraduate Student will incorporate learnings related to best practices, organizational style, Search Engine Optimization, digital accessibility, measurement and analytics, etc. The position may write short scripts or copy for social media videos or infographics.
The Undergraduate Student will identify a topic for an independent digital communications project or competitive analysis and will complete a verbal/visual presentation summarizing findings for Strategic Communications leaders. The project may be self-originated or assigned, based on agreement with the supervisor. This activity will help to enhance presentation and public speaking skills in a professional/corporate environment.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Minimum qualifications applicants must have to be considered for the position.
Must be at least 18 years old and currently enrolled in a degree-granting college or university with a major in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Radio/Television, or related.
POSITION INFORMATION
This position will provide a salary at $17 per hour
