Overview

We at Fairview Health Services is looking for a dedicated Ultrasound Technologist to join the hardworking team at the Women's Clinic at our Riverside location on the University of Minnesota Campus. This role is approved for 80 hours every two weeks, and is benefit eligible. This role will be working with one of the most diverse patient populations in our M Health Fairview system. The providers with OB-GYN Riverside have an outstanding relationship with all staff, and are passionate about education, encouraging personal growth, and supporting the team as a whole. Responsibilities

The Ultrasound Technologist-Clinic functions independently based on the boundaries of professional practice in performing all major work responsibilities. The Technologist provides services to patients and physicians through the creation of high-quality diagnostic imaging, provides quality age-appropriate patient care according to established standards of practice, and works collaboratively with all members of the health care team. The technologist will perform these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements (RDMS).

 

Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, examinations with technical accuracy, verifies patient identification and documentation and reviews physician order prior to exam or procedure

  • Achieves quality diagnostic images through correct patient positioning and use of technical factors according to protocol
  • Communicates with and educates patient(s) regarding pertinent information during all aspects of exam
  • Accurately produces and records measurements according to protocols
  • Correctly conveys initial findings and clinical data to referring physicians and/or radiologists
Applies established professional guidelines and standards to complex, routine, and non-routine diagnostic testing procedures
  • Accurately documents in compliance with regulatory agency requirements., completes computer functions, edits, scheduling, and billing status changes
  • Serves as a resource for other healthcare team members
  • Accurate image marking and digital image manipulation and archiving
  • Assesses the validity of the test results to determine if consistent with changing physiological conditions or if due to possible interfering substances
  • Directly communicates abnormal results to caregiver
Participates as an active team member
  • Participates in department/facility process/quality improvement initiatives
  • Responsible for personal and professional development to ensure current knowledge required for position
  • Provides integrated services with customers and care partners to ensure high quality care
Accurately operates equipment according to accepted standards and guidelines
  • Identifies and responds to equipment problems to ensure equipment is working
  • Prepares and plans ahead to coordinate exams and organizes patient care to ensure quality and continuity of patient care

Qualifications
Required
  • Education at a level to be ARDMS registry eligible, including successful completion of sonography clinical requirements
  • ARDMS registered in one specialty or ARRT RT (S) registered within 90 days of employment
  • Additional registrations may be required for specific locations based on the site’s accreditations (for example: ACR, AIUM, IAC) and/or regulatory requirements
  • Basic Life Support
Preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program
  • ARDMS registered in multiple specialties
