- Skills:1 year Maternal/Fetal Ultrasound Experience.
- Education: Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by American Radiologic Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required. BLS preferred.
- Certifications & Licenses: Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by American Radiologic Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required. BLS preferred
Essential Functions
- Perform ultrasonic diagnostic procedures in accordance with accepted protocols as directed by physicians.
- Instruct patients regarding procedures to ensure cooperation and optimum test results.
- Proficient in OB/GYN imaging and operating diagnostic ultrasound equipment including 3D/4D technology.
- Ability to manage a physically/emotionally demanding work environment related to changing patient needs, including working with patients with fetal anomalies that are potentially incompatible with life.
- Produce ultrasound images with all the required measurements; assist attending physicians with invasive procedures under ultrasound guidance
- Clean, stock and prepare room daily
- Explain ultrasound procedures to patients so they feel comfortable with the experience
- Serves as liaison between patient and physician when necessary
- Documents patient information in a timely and accurate manner to ensure continuity of high quality health care.
- Calibrate, maintain ultrasound equipment
- Perform fetal surveys, and nuchal translucency scans per established standards and guidelines.
- Evaluate the images for their quality, but also to interpret what was captured in the image.
- Notify physician of any abnormalities or concerns immediately
- Chart ultrasound results using procedure guidelines and templates
- Represents clinic in a professional manner. Treats all customers, internal and external in a courteous and cooperative manner. See patients on time and re-schedule patients as necessary
- Clinical Care: Ensure that quality patient care is delivered to all patients on a 24-hour basis, and the unit is maintained in accordance with professional and regulatory standards and the philosophy and goals of Hoag.
