Position Summary:

Correctly identifies patients using two forms of identification, reviews patient history and physician orders.

Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.

Follows all regulations on receiving and administering radiopharmaceutical within scope of practice.

Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate imaging parameters.

Properly positions patient, performs imaging procedure(s) and labels images correctly.

Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.

Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Transmits images and imaging worksheets to PACs. Completes documentation in the RIS and PACs.

Communicates appropriate information to the radiologist.

Minimum Education
Graduation from an accredited program for Ultrasonography preferred or one year of hospital ultrasonography training and experience.

Required Licenses
Other
• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) in Radiologic Technology or registered with the Association of Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in a discipline (Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular etc) or registered through CCI.

Minimum Work Experience
Experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Required Skills
Certifications: Current American Heart Association BLS certification or obtained within 90 days after hire date.

Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
