“IV Ninja” Ultrasound-guided IV Access Specialist for Infusion Therapy in Medical Practice - Job Description

The practice was founded by a veteran emergency medicine & critical care physician. The medicine we practice is exciting and "the best of what's available" in healthcare. We're looking for an exceptionally qualified, smart, talented and motivated “IV Ninja” for the medical practice. This candidate will be practicing at the top of their license while providing patient care. Our patients are seeking premium medical care, so we are prioritizing the skillset of Ultrasound Guided peripheral IV (or midline) for our infusion therapies. The candidate will also assist with medical procedures, perhaps do some individual procedures (depending on license and skills), along with plenty of opportunity to for advancement with clinical leadership responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will be trusted to learn about the care we provide, take the lead, and help build a thriving medical practice. This multifaceted role requires a foundation of clinical experience delivering patient care, procedural excellence to gain patient trust, an aptitude for understanding clinical workflow, a desire for leadership and some sales skills to drive business development.

 

Objectives of this role:

  • Provide specialized vascular access care, with a focus on Ultrasound Guided peripheral IV’s. This can include common angiocaths and midline catheters.
  • Perform the insertion, maintenance, and removal of this vascular access with precision and adherence to best practices.
  • Monitor and assess the condition of vascular access sites, ensuring the highest standards of care.
  • Learn and master patient care IV therapies and procedures.
  • Administer and manage intravenous (IV) therapies, medications, and fluids as prescribed by healthcare providers.
  • Monitor patients during infusion therapy, assessing for any adverse reactions and take appropriate actions.
  • Accurately document all aspects of patient care, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes, in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and seamless patient care.
  • Work with the physician owner, Clinical Operations Manager, Director of Client Services, current Patient Care Techs and future providers/staff to ensure outstanding delivery of medical care.
  • Assist physician owner with the development of new business opportunities.
  • Identify trends and customer needs.
  • Motivate the team, track performance, and report metrics.

 

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in ultrasound-guided IV line insertion
  • Detail-oriented -- with excellent procedural and clinical skills required for patient care.
  • Well-educated — Able to work within healthcare systems. Eager to learn new skills and treatment concepts. Conveys thoughts and expresses ideas effectively and respectfully. Ability to communicate at all levels, to include physicians, leadership, and staff within the various organizational partnerships.

Responsibilities:

1) Operations:

  • Collaborates with leadership team to review and adjust business and clinical operations in order to maximize workflow efficiency, staff productivity, and patient access.
  • Regularly meet with leadership team to assess accessibility and efficiency of operations to adjust processes accordingly.

 

2) Quality Improvement:

  • Ensures that the service expectations of both internal and external customers are met and/or exceeded.

 

3) Human Resources:

  • Encourages and supports professional growth and/or staff activities that directly relate to the developmental needs of the practice and staff.
  • Serves as a role model, mentor, and professional colleague for other members of the management team by lending support and sharing opportunities for success.

 

4) Program Development:

  • Participates in strategic planning for the practice.
  • Coordinates the implementation and integration of new programs and medical providers in the practice.
  • Plans and/or participates with community events, activities and education.
  • Suggests opportunities for expansion based on patient population needs, physician referrals or community access.

 

5) Direct Patient Interactions

  • Expresses empathy in patient interactions and focuses on the needs of the patient, staff, providers, practice and organization simultaneously.
  • Promptly addresses patient complaints and other patient-related issues.
  • Serves as a champion for patient safety.
  • Communicates in a competent and effective manner to meet patient and/or family needs and regulatory or organizational requirements.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team, the patient, and family to promote efficient patient care.
  • Serves as a mentor and preceptor for new staff and as a constant resource to all staff.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $30/hr - $55/hr, plus incentive based compensation, as determined.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents ViveWell’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
