About the Agency: The Mississippi State Oil and Gas Board is a regulatory agency, which regulates the drilling of oil and gas wells in the state as well as Class II wells (EOR and SWDW). Its mission is to foster, encourage and promote the development, production and utilization of oil and gas natural resources in the state and the health and safety of its citizens are protected by ensuring all wells are operated and maintained in compliance with the conservation statutes of the state and the rules and regulations of the Board.
About the Position: This is an oil and gas industry regulatory technical position. The selected applicant will foster, encourage and promote the development, production, and utilization of the natural resources of the oil and gas in the State of Mississippi. The selected applicant will communicate daily with stakeholders, the public, customers, owner/operators, land owners, attorneys and EPA officials. Duties will include the review and approval of numerous technical forms and permits, review and approval of dockets and Board orders, update the agency database and manage the well bond/letter of credit financials. The selected applicant will also be required to participate in various meetings and field activities as time permits.
What you'll need to be Successful: Experience with, and ability to utilize GIS Software, good organizational skills, general computer skills and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 2-4 years of experience. Agency preferred qualifications:Degree in Geo-sciences with qualifications to become a Registered Professional Geologist or Engineer.
