Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A baccalaureate degree in mass communications, broadcast television production, broadcast journalism, journalism, English, film studies, or cinematography, plus two years of production experience in television, radio, or multimedia.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Additional experience in production in television, radio, or multimedia will substitute for the required degree on the basis of six months of experience for fifteen semester hours of college.
NOTE:
Experience may be with a commercial, public, government, or non-profit entity for television, radio, or multimedia distribution.
NOTE:
TV Lighting/Stage Director is not qualifying toward the required experience.
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

- Responsible for project management, production and quality control of long-running, high-profile weekly state-wide televised news magazine program and other public affairs programs as assigned by Executive Producer.
- Ideal candidate will have years of experience writing and producing news. Strong consideration will be given to candidates with live TV directing and production experience, as well as basic skills in camera operation, location shooting, CG creation, and editing on Adobe Premiere.
- Responsible for developing short and long-term news leads, identifying and cultivating news sources statewide, pre-interviewing experts, and providing pre-production and production support as needed for shoots.
- Responsible for gathering b-roll, archival stills and footage, and overseeing the development and creation of graphics for packages.
- Responsible for maintaining a weekly, monthly and yearly production calendar that tracks stories.
- Works closely with anchor/producers of the news magazine program to assist in their story development and productions. May be asked to work closely with public affairs producers on other assigned projects.
- Must have a "nose for the news" and enjoy telling stories that are relevant to the state.
- Responsible for scripting packages and on-air copy as needed.
