The Louisiana Educational Television Authority (also known as Louisiana Public Broadcasting) is seeking an TV Operations Supervisoras part of Programming (Traffic) department.
Preference will be given to the candidate who possesses the following skills:

  • Technical knowledge of both broadcast and digital environments for planning and implementing Traffic operations for a multi-channel environment.
  • Supervises Traffic personnel with responsibility for hiring, training, performance planning and evaluation.
  • Coordinates logistics of multiple program sources, preparation of record orders, logging interstitial materials, and completion of daily broadcast logs.
  • Input monthly program schedules, programs, rights and releases from Director of Programming into operating system (ProTrack).
  • Program and log all interstitial material for multi-channel environment including license renewals, underwriting credits, promotional and sweepstakes spots.
  • Reviews daily discrepancy reports noting deviations from the broadcast log or record orders. Reporting and working to resolve issues that have occurred.
  • Works with the Director of Programming and Promotions, to execute on-air promotional strategy maximizing network visibility and increased audience flow.
  • Edit break points for pledge programs, update program database with pledge segment information including video and audio out cues, credit, and break lengths.
  • Compiles promotional materials weekly and assist on-air producer with weekly output and placement.
  • Coordinates final broadcast master delivery for on-air with Programming, Production, and Engineering divisions.
  • Coordinates with Engineering and Production divisions (under the direction of LPB's Director of Programming) to maintain workflows, identify issues and develop solutions.
  • Devise procedures for Traffic, Engineering and Production divisions for generating ID codes, tape/tapeless format(s) delivery for recording, broadcast and archiving of media.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A baccalaureate degree plus three years of professional level experience in television operations, television production, television engineering or television administration.
SUBSTITUTION:
Experience in television/video production work for commercial or government television or video production; or photographic experience in print for commercial or government published newspapers or periodicals will substitute for the required college training on the basis of one year of experience for thirty semester hours of college.
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.
Function of Work:
To supervise the scheduling of master control facilities and coordinate multi-video distribution services; and serve as assistant to the Operations Director.

Direction from Director of Programming
Supervision Exercised:
Direct line over TV Traffic Supervisor, TV Log Editor and TV Tape Librarian.

Differs from TV Traffic Supervisor by supervisory relationship.
Differs from TV Operations Director by subordinate relationship.Coordinates the logistics of multiple program sources such as satellite feeds, cable feeds, videotapes, films and slides, including ordering video tapes, preparation of record orders, invoices, and other related material.
Schedules master control facilities.
Assigns, reviews, and evaluates the work of subordinate traffic personnel.
Recommends policy, rule and procedural changes.
Reviews discrepancy reports (deviations in program log) and makes recommendations for correction or prevention.
Advises employees of new codes or procedures relative to the computerization of program logs and provides training as necessary.
