SALARY:
$41,806 - $53,410 and/or commensurate with experience

Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
The Tutor Teacher is a full-time, 10-month NYS certified secondary teacher who works in collaboration and under the guidance of building and district leadership to collaborate in the development and implementation of support for students in need of tutoring services or credit recovery support to maximize academic performance and the physical and social/emotional well-being of all students in alignment with the District mission and core commitments.
IMPROVING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY
Working With Students
- Design and provide differentiated instruction and lessons targeted to student needs in collaboration with the students' classroom teachers.
- Collect and analyze multiple forms of progress monitoring data to assess student progress towards targeted goals and adjust instruction, where necessary.
- Regularly align lessons and formative assessments to parallel in-class learning.
- Collaborate and communicate with parents regarding progress and focus of tutoring or instruction.
- Build relationships with students in need of long-term and short-term tutoring, as well as general education students in need of credit recovery.
- Collaborate in the development of a schedule, as needed, and meet regularly with classroom teachers to review student progress, determine instructional next steps, and methods for gathering student data.
- Ensure close coordination of instruction across tutoring and classroom settings.
- Provision for appropriate instructional materials in collaboration with students' classroom teacher.
- Consult with classroom teachers to determine students in need of credit recovery and develop a plan of action.
- Meet regularly with Directors of Instruction and Student Services, Principals and/or Assistant Principals to review and design student intervention plans for tutoring and credit recovery.
- Regularly review and report student progress.
- Participate in PST & IST meetings as well as Team meetings, where applicable.
- Administer Diagnostic assessments, where applicable and approved by the building principal.
- Consult current research to inform practice.
- Collaborate with Principals and Directors of Instruction and Student Services to coordinate scheduling of support services with staff.
- Demonstrate professional responsibility relative to forwarding district initiatives.
- Collaborate with leadership staff to forward district initiatives and best practices.
Collaboration with Tutors
- Co-teach and model in the tutoring setting and closely collaborate with tutors to support understanding of curricula and support strategies.
- Create schedules based on building and student need.
- Monitor and assess effectiveness of daily tutoring and schedules and adjust as needed.
- Model and promote a positive, productive, growth-oriented work environment.
- Collaborate with our tutoring center staff, as well as secondary buildings administration and staff.
- Creatively problem-solve to best support students.
- Implement student health and safety procedures.
- Monitor and implement best practices to ensure regular student attendance.
- Holds New York State Teaching Certification in 7-12 ELA,7-12 Math, 7-12 Science,7-12 Social Studies, or Special Education.
- Demonstrates high emotional intelligence and strength in building personal relationships.
