SalaryTeach Them To Thrive is a small tutoring/consulting company in Menlo Park, CA. We serve students on the Peninsula from San Mateo to Palo Alto. We are growing and need to hire 1 more part-time reading specialist to tutor with us. This is a part-time 1099 contractor position. I am looking for someone who prioritizes relationships with families and is collaborative. The schedule will be flexible and set between you and the families you are tutoring. Most families are interested in tutoring M-F between 3-6pm. The hours will be ~5-10/week in tutoring sessions, but there is room for more depending on your desire and demand. Must be experienced with Elementary aged students. Structured literacy trained is required. Orton-Gillingham experience preferred!
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years teaching and/or tutoring experience in elementary grades
- Valid Elementary Teaching Credential/License (any State permitted)
- Experience in Structured Literacy Approach (Orton-Gillingham training is preferred)
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive to client’s homes or public libraries
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prioritize building relationships with students and their families. Frequently communicate with families (and other teachers/specialists on occasion) about their child’s progress and any concerns they may have.
- Plan, prepare, provide materials for, and deliver personalized lessons to students in PreK-5th grade mainly in reading and occasionally in math. These may be 1:1 or small groups.
- Assess students current level and use this to scope and plan instruction.
- Monitor student’s progress and keep records of this data.
- Drive to families homes or public libraries in Menlo Park, and surrounding towns.
- Schedule sessions with families and calendar these so payment can be collected.
Pay range: Pay will vary based on what families are charged per session. The approximate range will be: $65-$85/hour.
