Tutor and Writing Center Director

Job Description
The Tutor and Writing Center Director is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the center for both on-site and online tutoring services.
Essential Duties Summary
1. Tutor students in person or in a Zoom setting
2. Hire, train, schedule and supervise tutors and Writing consultants
3. Advocate university-wide tutoring needs based on assessment data and feedback received from stakeholders
4. Tutor students individually or in groups as needed
5. Provide marketing outreach University-wide for services to available to students university-wide
6. Maintain and manage the Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) program (supplemental instruction) including coordination with faculty, hiring, training, scheduling and supervision
7. Serve as main point of contact for online tutoring platform (Accudemia) and Zoom tutoring
8. Update and manage yearly budget
9. Serve as a member of the (SOS) Support our Students committee and provide student outreach
10. Compile regular data and reports regarding center usage
11. Administer free calculator check-out program
12. Collaborate and consult with faculty regarding tutoring services materials
13. Promote Tutor & Writing Center and other academic resources at orientation, resource fairs and other events
14. Survey students and faculty about tutoring needs
15. Collaborate with Academic Success staff members to administer Strategies for Success workshops
16. Update handbooks, training materials and other documents as needed
17. Administer and document Math placement test
18. Assist with OAR Days (orientation) as requested
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree.
2. Strong oral and written communication skills.
3. Excellent multitasking and organizational skills.
4. Ability to communicate effectively with all constituents.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Excellent computer and word processing skills, including the proficient use of the Microsoft Office suite.
2. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
Physical Demands
1. Viewing computer screens for long periods of time.
2. Sitting behind a desk for long periods of time.
3. May be required to lift up to 30 pounds, at times.
