Job Summary:
• Greenville Turnkey installs chillers, towers, pumps, and boilers in the upstate of South Carolina and Western North Carolina. As a member of our pipe team, you will be a lead member of a crew directing welders, and mechanics in the installation of equipment and related pipe.
• Responsible for the installation and commissioning of HVAC systems, utilizing knowledge of pipe fitting and welding, equipment rigging and installation, hydronic equipment, and mechanical room layouts.
• Responsible for planning, analyzing and timely completion of assigned projects and activities.
• Uses a variety of hand tools, along with interpreting construction drawings, plans, and specifications, to mount, hang, fit, and install piping and equipment systems.
• Ensures compliance with internal contracting processes.
• Performs site surveys, replacements, modifications and start-up as needed or requested by customers.
• Prepares for on-site installation by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials and coordinating on-site work, and coordinating with other trades as necessary.
• Maintains assigned stock of inventory, company equipment, and documents all related activities.
• Records parts, material, labor, and other cost data per assignment and returns unused resources.
• Provides sales leads to appropriate personnel.
• Documents work by completing paperwork on each job, including daily time, progress, and duration; and maintaining files.
• Turns in all required paperwork and reports in a timely manner.
• Provides technical support to customers on assigned projects.
• Maintains and Inspects vehicle by checking vehicle condition.
• Maintains tools and equipment by inspecting for signs of wear.
• Continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions.
• Regular travel requirements with occasional overnight stays.
• Display team effort and dedication to customer by maintaining flexibility to work overtime and weeks as the business requires, including occasional overnight stays.
Qualifications:
• A High School Diploma or equivalent required, and typically at least 5-8 years of experience in Commercial HVAC Equipment and piping Installation. Technical School or formal training a plus.
• Knowledge and extensive experience with welded pipe, Victaulic pipe, threaded pipe, and copper a must. Extensive experience required on measuring and fitting pipe systems based on equipment submittals. Mechanical room layout and pipe routing solutions helpful.
• Extensive experience with pipe tools, cutting torch, and hangers required.
• Certificates for operation of forklifts, scissor and boom lifts, and associated equipment preferred.
• Certificates for safety training (OSHA 10 or 30), rigging, etc. preferred.
• Basic knowledge of electrical circuits, starters, and disconnects preferred.
• Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with handheld computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad).
• State Contractor License preferred but not a necessity (e.g. HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, Gas Installer etc.).
• Must possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to:
o DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
• Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.
Additional Requirements and Environmental Exposure:
• Must be able to safely and legally operate a vehicle using a seat belt
• Must be able to wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harness and safety boots to safely perform job duties
• Must be able to twist the trunk of your body 90 degrees in each direction
• Must be able to squat and touch the floor with both hands
• Must be able to reach your hands over your head
• Must be able to stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods, routinely up to 4 hours
• This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling and climbing ladders. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move up to 10 lbs. and frequently lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. (may occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 lbs. with special approval.)
• Must be able to safely use a ladder with a 375 lb. total weight limit, while wearing equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to maneuver access areas, as small as 30" vertical x 45" horizontal
• Must be able to comfortably and routinely access rooftops with extension and/or fixed ladders at heights of 15' to 20', and occasionally, up to 50 feet• This role may be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, risk of electrical shock, noisy operating equipment and other variable environmental conditions based on location
Base Compensation Range is $26-31hr
