Job description

The Technical Programs team in Facebook’s Security, Integrity, and Investigations organization is looking for an experienced Technical Program Manager with strong organizational skills who is able develop internal Child Safety strategy - balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders and the changing regulatory landscape. This position requires the ability to: build expertise in core infrastructure that supports legal compliance across a diverse set of child safety challenges, develop plans with engineering & cross-functional partners, and drive execution through influence or direct intervention.The candidate will exhibit strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and a rigorous, analytical & strategic approach to problem solving. They will be responsible for evaluating, defining, and leading major child Safety Technology projects for mission-critical systems within Facebook’s legal department and Trust & Safety partners. The ideal candidate will be comfortable collaborating internally and externally with operational/legal/policy teams within an ecosystem that addresses high-severity harms. They will also be comfortable managing and de-conflicting executive demands in a high demand environment with tight deadlines. This work will be accomplished by working closely with legal SMEs, child safety investigators, engineering teams, third party vendors, teammates, and cross-functional internal partners, and external organizations. Lastly, the candidate should have familiarity with or be willing to work on the intersection of child safety, tech, legal, compliance, and government matters. This is a full-time position.

Trust & Safety Technology Program Manager Responsibilities:

  • Lead a complex cross-functional program in a critical child safety environment that deals with high severity harm.
  • Own the product vision for critical systems that enable our organization’s mission to ensure protection of user privacy and child safety.
  • Primary driver for identifying significant opportunities and disclosure impacts across user safety workflows.
  • Builds consensus around roadmaps and how to evaluate success by managing the roadmap through tough tactical prioritization decisions while helping the organization think long-term.
  • Build trust with stakeholders by maintaining an understandable, accurate roadmap and by knowing the customer.
  • Collaborate across teams and peers of all levels by operating as the critical person in creating alignment between engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Define and track program success through criteria and metrics.
  • Display strong leadership, organizational and execution skills in engagements across the entire organization & externally.
  • Maximize efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the norm.
  • Work with peers of all levels from front-line analysts to executives.
  • Leading complex cross-functional teams that focus on user safety.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of technical program management or product management experience.
  • Experience operating autonomously across a broad problem space, demonstrating critical thinking, and thought leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in a technology related area of study.
  • Previous experience in Child Safety, Trust & Safety, Privacy, Legal, or Security related fields.
  • Experience weighing business requirements and priorities to produce project plans, engineering estimates, and product roadmaps.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide engagements.
  • Experience leading external industry engagements.
  • Technical program management of a platform that communicates with a third party API.
