A-1 Industries, a leader in the industry of roof & floor TRUSS DESIGN and manufacturing, is now announcing an open call for its 2024 Truss Design Training Program. Candidates are invited to come and compete for the limited number of slots for this upcoming year’s training class where selected trainees will be introduced to and educated on the profession of wood TRUSS DESIGN and planning. This unique training program is a paid position and allows you to earn while you learn. If completed successfully, it can earn you a permanent placement within the A-1 Design Team.

Truss Design Class will begin on January 15, 2024

• 13 Weeks (12 weeks of design training and 1 week in the shop)
• Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM, in-person training.
• Get paid while you learn - $20 per hour.
• You will receive hands on product training in a classroom environment.
• Comprehensive Design and Engineering training by qualified, experienced A-1 Truss Designer.
• Required prequalification assessments: Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment, Predictive Index Cognitive Assessment, 3 Hour Math Assessment-onsite, 2 round interviews-onsite, final interview-onsite.
• (Practice material suggestions General knowledge, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Construction Math, Arithmetic, Word Problems, Spatial, 3-D)

Reports to

Design Asst. Manager

Essential Functions

• Read and interpret architectural mechanical and structural drawings
• Draw truss layout placement plan per architectural, mechanical and structural drawings
• Label and dimension truss placement plan so that framer can easily place said trusses in the proper location
• Design quality, efficient trusses in a timely manner
• Work hand in hand with architects, engineers, and customers

This role has no supervisory responsibility

Work Environment / Physical Demands

• This job operates in a clerical, office setting. Moderate noise (examples: business office equipment like printers, light traffic).
• This is a sedentary role. It requires close vision, color vision and depth perception three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, talk, and hear.

Required Education and Experience

• College, Certification, High School Diploma or GED.
• One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Individuals with College experience preferred.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position
